Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions form a binding agreement between you ('the client') and Megan Burnett Dog Behaviour & Training ('the provider'). By engaging in our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms and conditions.

1. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

All behaviour support is carried out with your dog’s welfare and safety as the top priority. While every effort is made to offer professional, evidence-based advice tailored to your dog, Megan Burnett Dog Behaviour & Training cannot guarantee specific outcomes or results.

You must disclose all relevant behaviour issues and history — including fear, anxiety, aggression, reactivity, or any history of growling, snapping, or biting. You must also disclose any legal, civil, or insurance proceedings relating to your dog.

Failure to disclose such information may result in serious harm, termination of services without refund, and/or legal action. Megan Burnett Dog Behaviour & Training accepts no liability for incidents resulting from withheld information.

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, owners are legally responsible for their animals’ behaviour. You, the owner, remain solely responsible for the behaviour and safety of your dog during and after the programme.

By signing this agreement, you confirm that all information provided in your pre-consultation behaviour questionnaire is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

2. Risk Acknowledgement

You understand that behaviour modification, especially where aggression, fear, or anxiety is involved, carries inherent risks. Dogs may behave unpredictably, and progress may vary.

"You, the owner, remain fully responsible for the behaviour and safety of your dog at all times, during and after the programme. Megan Burnett Dog Behaviour & Training accepts no responsibility for injury or damage to any person, dog, or property during or following behaviour work."

3. Disclosure of Behavioural History

You agree to provide full and honest disclosure of your dog’s behavioural history, including any aggression, bite incidents, reactivity, or fear-based behaviours. Failure to disclose may result in service termination.

4. Implementation and Owner Responsibility

• You agree to implement the behaviour plan as directed.
• All training sessions must be used within 3 months of the first session, unless otherwise agreed.
• Ongoing consistency and management are essential for successful outcomes.
• You are expected to continue training beyond 1:1 sessions. Failure to do so may affect progress.
• You agree to follow veterinary advice relevant to your dog’s behaviour. Refusal to do so may result in the termination of services.

Megan Burnett Dog Behaviour & Training is not responsible for outcomes resulting from deviation from the plan or inconsistent application.

5. Veterinary Involvement

Behaviour concerns may relate to underlying pain, illness, or medical factors. You agree to seek veterinary support where appropriate. Megan Burnett Dog Behaviour & Training may request a referral and reserves the right to pause or terminate work if medical causes are suspected and not addressed.

If you engage additional trainers or behaviourists during the programme without prior discussion, services may be terminated without refund. Conflicting advice may undermine progress and safety.

You give consent for Megan to communicate with your veterinary team when necessary.

You remain liable for all service fees, regardless of your insurance provider’s coverage. Megan Burnett Dog Behaviour & Training does not process direct claims.

6. Children and Household Safety

It is your responsibility to ensure that any advice involving children or vulnerable adults in the household is followed carefully. Children should not interact with the dog in any way that contradicts the behaviour plan.

7. Cancellations and Refunds

• Cancellations must be made with at least 48 hours’ notice. Late cancellations may be charged in full.
• Refunds are not issued after sessions have taken place.
• Megan Burnett reserves the right to cancel or reschedule sessions. If a session is cancelled by Megan, it will be rebooked at no loss to the client.
• Exceptions may be granted at Megan's discretion.

8. Media, Confidentiality, and Data

All personal data is stored and handled in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. Any use of case details, photos, or videos for educational or marketing purposes will only occur with your written consent.
